About the Tamang Language

• Tamang is the fifth largest ethnic group after Kshetri, Brahman, Magar and Tharu in Nepal as per population census 2078(2021 AD) which is 5.62% of total population.
• Tamang language is primarily spoken by the Tamang ethnic group, one of the largest indigenous group of Nepal.
• Language plays a crucial role in preserving the identity, culture, and traditions of a community.
• In recent decades, the younger generation has shown less interest in learning their mother tongue, with some expressing concerns about its tonal nuances.
• The government is also not paying sufficient attention in preserving the various ethnic languages. The mother tongue language basic courses should have been implemented in school level.
• The upcoming decade will the crucial time for Revitalizing the language once again or to let it lost for forever.
• As the young ones are not keen in using mother tongue and the trend is increasing, the country once proud for its ethnical diversity will slowly lose that identity as the ethnic groups shall not be able to understand or use the language any more.
• Its our effort using the todays best technology, the Artificial Intelligence (AI), incorporating its state of art principles such as Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Transfer Learning etc. for preserving the language.
• Once again, it can be preserved, make easily accessible and learnable by the ethic community through the use of technology.
• Since Tamang Language is a vital part of Nepal's linguistic diversity [among 127 spoken languages of Nepal], the aim is to keep it alive and accessible to future generations to come.

• जनगणना २०७८ (२०२१ ईस्वी) अनुसार तामाङ जाती नेपालमा क्षेत्री, ब्राह्मण, मगर र थारु पछिको पाचौँ ठूलो जातीय समूह हो जसको जनसंख्या ५.६२% रहेको छ ।
• तामाङ भाषा तामाङ जातीय समूहद्वारा बोलिन्छ, जुन नेपालका प्रमुख आदिवासी समूहहरूमध्ये एक हो ।
• भाषाले समुदायको पहिचान, संस्कृति र परम्पराहरू संरक्षण गर्न महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका खेल्दछ ।
• पछिल्लो दशकहरूमा युवापुस्ताले आफ्नो मातृभाषा सिक्नमा कम रुचि देखाएका छन् । केहीले यसले आफ्नो स्वर लय (टोन) बारे चिन्ता व्यक्त गरेका कारण समेत भाषामा अरुचि देखाउने गरका छन ।
• सरकारले पनि विभिन्न जातीय भाषाहरूको संरक्षणमा पर्याप्त ध्यान दिएको छैन। विद्यालय स्तरमा मातृभाषाका आधारभूत पाठ्यक्रम लागू गर्न आवश्यक छ।
• आउँदै गरेको दशक भाषा पुनर्जीवित गर्ने वा यसलाई सधैंका लागि हराउन दिने भन्ने निर्णायक काल खण्ड हुनेछ।
• युवापुस्ताले मातृभाषा प्रयोग नगर्ने र यो प्रवृत्ति बढ्दै गएको अवस्थामा, जातीय विविधतामा गर्व गर्ने देश नेपालले आफ्नो पहिचान समेत गुमाउन सक्छ । किनभने जातीय समूहहरूले आफ्नै भाषा बुझ्न वा प्रयोग गर्न नसक्ने अवस्था आउदैछ ।
•यो आजको उच्चतम प्रविधि Artificial Intelligence(AI) र यसका अत्याधुनिक सिद्धान्तहरू जस्तै Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Transfer Learning ईत्यादी उपयोग गरी भाषा संरक्षण गर्न गरिएको प्रयास हो ।
• फेरी पनि प्रविधिको प्रयोगद्वारा भाषालाइ संरक्षण गर्दै सजिलै पहुँचयोग्य र जातीय समुदायले सिक्न सक्ने बनाउन सकिन्छ ।
• तामाङ भाषा नेपालको भाषिक विविधताको महत्त्वपूर्ण हिस्सा हो (नेपालमा बोलिने १२७ भाषाहरू मध्येमा), यसको उद्देश्य यसलाई भावी पुस्ताहरूका लागि जीवित र पहुँचयोग्य राख्नु हो ।
